The Australorp ….He comes from a land down under 

Whilst she’s not 6’4 and full of muscles the best chicken breed in Oz is the Australorp.

The Autralorp is regarded as “the honorary National Chicken Breed of Australia”- and has even had its own ‘postage stamp’.  Initially bred from a mix of other breeds to be an egg layer it is at home in the harsh Aussie heat and it can cope with cooler conditions too. The Australop is a world record breaker with a reputed record of 364 eggs in 365 days!

Dingo Danger…

Whilst in the UK we a have to worry about foxes and rats as the main threat to our coops its safe to say that in Australia they have a lot more deadly foes. Whilst the ChickenGuard’s tough metal door won’t defeat a hungry croc, it will certainly fend off a dingo, fox and a yes even a determined Tasmanian devil.
